Barack Obama is the first presidential candidate in my lifetime that inspires me to be a better citizen, a better American, a better person.  That is exactly why I have worked my hardest in the recent months to contribute everything I can to the Obama for America Campaign, because I believe anything that helps Obama is helping America and, ultimately, planet Earth.

Of all the candidates, Obama’s principles and policy points best align with my personal views and opinions.  Obama has been opposed to the Iraq War from the beginning yet has fought to “support our troops”; he is committed to human rights abroad, to championing the rights of the poor, defending the Constitution, instituting universal health care for Americans, and ending, in his words, “not just the war, but the mindset which got us into this war”– a mindset that reckless aggression is the best way to fight terrorism.

Obama’s diverse background and upbringing are other reasons I so strongly support his candidacy.  As the true product of the American “melting pot” – the son of a Kenyan father and a white mother from Kansas, growing up both in the states and abroad -- I believe Obama is best equipped to re-unite the States of America, reaching all races, genders and personal backgrounds.  With Barack Obama as our president, the rest of the world will once again see the United States of America as a beacon of hope and freedom and look to us to lead it in the 21st century and beyond.

Obama’s message of unity can create a clear political majority that will, ultimately, create the political will to accomplish great things for our country.  He has pledged to protect our environment; make necessary changes to our public education system; renegotiate NAFTA to better serve homeland interests; invest in innovative technologies and research; and restore pride and prosperity to a quickly disappearing middle class.

I share these principles, attitudes and hope for a better America and world, and for "change we can believe in".
